::: RECONNAISSANCE ~ a preliminary survey to gain information - especially an exploratory military survey of enemy territory (which in my case is basically any attempt to map my thought processes) ~ :::

So, the whole "putting yourself out there" where public reaction to your creative efforts (literary and otherwise) are uncontrollable at best, or somewhat intimidating at a minimum, can be eye-opening. Those with conservative reservations (such as myself), tend to spend a lot of time in their heads. Sometimes too much. But it has provided the opportunity for me to exercise my burgeoning appetite for writing.

How it all started....

A couple of years ago, I published my first book. It's not a very big book; just around 106 pages, but for me it was a seminal accomplishment. Interestingly, when people find out I am a published author, invariably the first question they ask is...what's the book about?

It's a fair (and expected) question, but strangely it always makes me pause. You would think I would have no hesitation in giving an immediate answer, given I am the one who wrote it. Maybe I am still somewhat bemused by the fact I actually created something to be consumed by the public.

The book contains various themes based upon a few of my life experiences, so I may still be in the process of working on certain aspects about myself, which in turn causes me to stop and think about how best to answer when that inevitable question arises.

For those who wish to see how and where this writing journey first began, you may check it out here.

I currently have four manuscripts in development and I have noticed a theme developing across them. While my first published book is non-fiction, three of these fall under the fictional genre and one (for want of a better term) is educational. These new manuscripts are totally different from each other, but have a thread of connection to my initial published book, in that they highlight common aspects of our human condition. I had not intentionally planned this - it just worked out that way.

My plan moving forward for this site is for it to be a public repository for my writing projects (among other creative ventures). I will be experimenting with different delivery options such as Blogs, Videos, Social Media and even a bit of Flight Simulation thrown in for good measure. I am even toying with the idea of publishing one of my developing manuscripts as an online web series. Time will tell. So, expect this site to continually evolve - physically and content-wise.

In any case, thanks for your time and please feel free to pop in now an again to see how things are going.
